Image from UnsplashSince finding their way to city streets in 2018, electric scooters have grown to become a popular mode of transportation due to their convenience, affordability, versatility and eco-friendliness.
Compared to traditional transportation, electronic scooters allow users to easily move in densely populated areas with high traffic volume at a faster pace. In terms of portability, these personal transporters can easily be carried anywhere since they are lightweight and foldable. Electric scooters are also an eco-friendly alternative to gas-fueled transportation since riding one generates no exhaust fumes. Meaning, there is zero air pollution emitted since the devices are powered by an electric motor, and recharging the battery is more carbon-neutral than refueling with gas. Other benefits include improved body balance and better mobility for people with health issues.
According to Research and Markets, the global electric scooter market size is projected to reach $34.7 billion by 2028, expanding at a CAGR of 7.6 percent. This is primarily driven by the increased adoption of the device among the young population, the growing buying power of the middle-class population in developing countries and rapid urbanization.
While the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the industry, especially in terms of sourcing components and raw materials, increasing awareness towards social distancing and reducing carbon footprint has turned more people into ditching traditional transportation for electric scooters.
In China, manufacturers offer a variety of electric scooters for adults and children. These typically use low-noise motors, integrate safety features such as lights, brake systems, speedometers, odometers, indicators, throttle, tires and traction, have speed of up to 30kph, run on lithium-ion batteries, and meet CE, RoHS and UL requirements.
