Netherlands-based startup Labfresh has released recently a range of breathable cotton shirts that not only repel stains and odor buildup, but require very minimal ironing as well. Its crowdfunding campaign is taking Kickstarter by storm, generating almost five-fold its initial target with more than two weeks remaining.
The secret is in the company's patented InDuo technology, which involves treating the yarns before being spun into fabric instead of merely applying coating on the clothing's surface. The result is a yarn innovation that prevents liquid and bacteria from penetrating the cotton fibers, allowing wearers to rinse off spills and stains while eliminating buildup of odor-causing microorganisms.
Although water-resistant, the shirt still maintains cotton's natural breathability, enabling sweat to evaporate through the fabric and the garment to dry quickly.
The shirt adopts InDuo cotton, which feels like regular cotton. For added comfort, the garment contains 2 percent spandex. It also resists wrinkling, thereby requiring only occasional ironing.
Labfresh's cotton shirt comes in a plain long-sleeved button-down construction and goes for 119 euros or $126 at current exchange rates but can be preordered at the company's Kickstarter website for a discounted price.
The company also offers a collection of stainless ties in a slim silhouette that match the garment's minimalist style. These are made of 50:50 wool-silk and come in different colors.
