Now that smart door locks that can be accessed via mobile phones are becoming mainstream, manufacturers are adding more features to make their products stand out. This smart lock by US-based startup Oval Access, for instance, differentiates itself from others by making mobile access easier.
The smart door lock, called Oval, opens in just one touch. When touched, the lock immediately recognizes the authorized user’s smartphone in two seconds or less to grant entry. Indeed, this innovation makes remote access easy, for the owner doesn’t need to open an app or type codes on the mobile device each time he or she wants to enter the home. App settings need to be toggled only once, during setup.
As regards other features, the Oval smart lock can also send mobile alerts if its battery is running low, provide access to its unlocking history and issue one-time codes that can be entered by pressing its digital faceplate. Single-use codes are only valid within five minutes, a good way of granting temporary access to visitors. Multiple oval locks can be accessed by one phone, and the owner can also sync family members’ mobile phones to work with the lock.
In terms of design, Oval is following the latest trend in smart lock size – small and slim. The lock is oval-shaped as its name implies, and does not look bulky when installed on doors.
Oval isn’t the only mobile-ready smart door lock that is going compact, though. There are now smart locks from Asia and Europe suppliers, for instance, that come in thin bar, foblike, slim parallelogram and compact rectangular shapes.
Importers of door locks can source more of these kinds of products for the smart lock market is predicted to flourish through 2021, with a CAGR of 80.6 percent, according to research provider Million Insights. Smart door locks with the capability to link or connect with home devices and electronic gadgets are in-demand.
