A new Bluetooth 4.0 light bulb called Vibrance could be taking the spotlight in the smart lighting market soon. The intelligent fixture sets itself apart from other new smart bulbs for it can give off scents that can change mood and serve as a different kind of alarm.

Vibrance emits 800 lumens and lavender, rosemary, peppermint, lemon and eucalyptus scents that are said to soothe the mind, improve alertness and reduce fatigue. The smart light bulb can diffuse aroma depending on the weather and on schedule such as before one wakes up, gradually making the scent stronger to help users get out of bed on time and feeling invigorated. Its 10mL cartridge can also be refilled with other oils. Oils last a week on normal usage.

Besides functioning as an aromatherapy alarm, the smart light bulb also flashes to alert about missed calls and text messages, a feature already starting to be widely adopted in other recent models. What’s unique aside from its scents is that it can notify when cooking appliances are done and laundry cycles are finished. The bulb is also energy-saving, turning on when the owner is in the room and off when no one is detected. Settings can be toggled via Android and iOS phones, and tablet PCs.

Vibrance’s fundraising campaign on Kickstarter is slated on October.
