Vietnam makers offer stylish, space-saving wicker furniture

Recent releases are characterized by clean lines and simple silhouettes. Colorful cushions enhance aesthetics and user comfort.

Vietnam furniture makers are taking advantage of the inherent flexibility of wicker materials to create pieces for various indoor and outdoor design styles. As living spaces in several countries become smaller, many companies are opting for simple structures with straight or slightly curved lines.

Versatility is also a key consideration in product development. Recent releases include sofa sets that can be configured to fit different types of spaces or settings. Ottomans and other pieces with storage spaces are also on trend.

Benches, lounge chairs and other types of seating are often offered with cushions. These accessories come in a wide range of colors to suit different styles. Water-resistant fabric covers are the norm for outdoor designs.

In terms of wicker materials, the main choices for indoor furniture are natural rattan, bamboo and water hyacinth, while outdoor designs are usually in synthetic rattan. For frames, the typical choices are rattan and bamboo poles, aluminum tubes and wood.

Models in natural finishes are popular. Black, brown, white and gray are also common options, but models in other shades are also available.

At most companies, OEM orders account for the majority of export sales. Makers, however, usually release three to five models monthly. They typically rely on information from buyers or online sources to keep up-to-date with trends.

Makers can customize the design, materials, packaging and finishing of their models. Lead time for the development of samples is usually three to four weeks.

Model GM-SC-R01 from Gia Man Co. Ltd is a synthetic rattan swing chair with a powder-coated steel frame. It comes with 8cm-thick polyester cushions. The piece measures 97x110x180cm.

Gia Man designed the GM-Kid-FS01 living room furniture set for children. The set consists of one 30x51x31cm table, one 40x80x54cm chair and two 40x44x54cm chairs. The pieces are made of synthetic rattan and powder-coated aluminum.
