Wearable action camera touts voice control, long recording

The Kickstarter-funded device listens to commands and records continuously for five hours.

At a time when recording every life event and taking selfies is loved by many, action cameras are becoming more in-demand and upgrading with new features. The hottest trends in action cameras today are longer battery life and voice recognition. One action camera, Caply, recently became a Kicktarter hit thanks to the said features.

The Caply camera, exceeding five times its $30,000 funding goal and shipping on June, boasts a five-hour continuous video recording time per charge of its custom battery. On standby, it can last 120 hours. Travelers going to places with limited access to electricity can appreciate this feature. To support longer recordings, Caply's memory is also expandable to 128GB.

The action camera can be voice-controlled by users by saying "Caply, take a photo". The device will capture images in an instant. If not via voice, the action camera can also be tapped once or twice, or swiped on its body to work and activate short-clip and time-lapse modes.

Besides battery life and voice recognition, portability remains a popular selling point in the latest action cameras. For Capri, there are a number of ways one can wear or bring it. The wearable action camera comes with different combinations of accessories, including a clip, arm strap, flexible cable, bike mount and water-resistant case.

Other manufacturers, many China-based, are offering action cameras with versatile mounts or are way smaller than the palm.
