Reducing or eliminating electromagnetic interference is a must in electronics to ensure devices function well and are protected from damage caused by high-frequency noise and radiation. This is achieved using EMI filters, which are categorized into common- and differential-mode types and further into LC, RC, PI and T kinds based on configuration.

Widely available EMI suppression devices in China typically have a rated voltage of 115, 125 or 250VAC or 50 or 150VDC, rated current of 1 to 20A, frequency of 50/60Hz and operating temperature of -30 to 100 C. They conform to UL, cUL, CE, CSA, VDE, CQC and RoHS standards and are mostly for industrial automation, medical, communication, energy and military applications. Products based on custom specifications and for other applications can also be sourced.

To keep up with the miniaturization trend in electronics, Chinese manufacturers will continue to develop smaller and more lightweight EMI filters with enhanced noise suppression performance.

The main components used in the production of EMI filters, such as capacitors, varistors, choke coils, resistors and PCBs, are obtained from domestic and foreign companies. Their cost and supply are expected to stay generally stable in the coming months and keep the prices of EMI filters unchanged, according to suppliers interviewed by Global Sources.
