Chinese manufacturers are realizing the growing demand for child-friendly devices by launching Android tablets pre-installed with educational apps, learning tools, and more.

While the continuing growth of the Android tablet market has been good for manufacturers, one concern has been the commoditization of tablets. Suppliers are beginning to respond to this by segmenting their market into more specialized tablets. Android tablets for children and education is generally regarded as the second-largest potential market, after entertainment. Global brands like Samsung, LG, Amazon and DreamWorks have launched tablets for children, but what tablets for children and/or education can be found in China?

Targeted to kids from 3 to 9 years old, China-made tablets for this segment typically feature arc-shaped or streamlined colorful plastic cases. In order to distinguish these from traditional adults’ tablets and learning toys, tablets for this segment market are embedded with hardware and software specially prepared for children.
