Bold bag and accessory designs stood out at the April show.

The latest in garments, fabrics and fashion accessories filled the halls of the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong from April 27 to 30.
Here are the 5 big trends at the shows:
1. Darker hues for garments: Grays, dark blues and earth tones dominated the latest selections of ladies' and men's wear. Textures such as rib, cable and other knit patterns break the color monotony.
2. Bold and colorful accessories: The upcoming season will not be all dark and dreary. Various fashion accessories enliven outfits with splashes of colors and playful designs. Statement fashion jewelry feature large semiprecious and synthetic stones. Sun- and reading glasses have superslim frames with a layer of colorful fabric that matches the design of the case.
3. Patterns and textures rule: Animal skin was big at both shows, whether it be on bags and purses, or on garments. Standouts include women's evening bags that look and feel like real snakeskin, and ladies' jackets made of synthetic fur but with the feel of the genuine article.
4. Functional fabrics use widens: Functional fabrics are increasingly being used in winterwear. Heat-retentive types het a special coating to eliminate the need for a lining and keep the fabric lightweight. Moisture-wicking capability and elasticity are being enhanced to keep up with intense workouts.
5. Prints galore:T-shirts, dresses, scarves, eyewear and even luggage sported prints ranging from small and dainty to whimsical, and big and bold. Numerous printing methods are available, including digital and sublimation. 3D printing renders lifelike images.
