An Ultimate List of Impressive Hong Kong Jewellery Shows

Internationally known large-scale B2B Hong Kong jewellery fairs are returning to the Special Administrative Region as it further opens post-pandemic.

Hong Kong has been a center of jewellery trade aside from being known for fine jewellery designers such as Michelle Ong and Wallace Chang whose reputations have acquired “international standing” since the mid-2010s, according to BBC Designed.

Officials of the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) industry have been quoted as saying that the jewellery community has been among the most vocal about their wish for the return of Hong Kong jewellery trade shows. Thus, HK jewellery show organizers are responding accordingly.

This year, at least four major fine jewellery trade exhibitions and three shows that complement them – focused on fashion jewellery and lifestyle products – are taking place in Hong Kong. Below, arranged by date, are the must-not-miss Hong Kong jewellery shows of 2023:

1. Hong Kong International Jewellery Show 2023 (March 1 to 5, 2023)

Organized by the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council (HKTDC), this onsite HK jewellery show is taking place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). Booth themes include World of Glamour, Fine Jewelry, Silver & Finished Jewelry, Antique & Vintage Jewelry, Tools & Equipment and Packaging, Jewellery x Creativity and Watch Avenue. Industry seminars, jewellery parades and networking sessions are among the activities lined up.

2. Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show (March 1 to 5 and 1 to 12, 2023)

This Hong Kong jewellery show is the twin of the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show and will be held concurrent with the latter also at the HKCEC. Highlighted in this fair are diamonds, gemstones, pearls, laboratory-grown diamonds and synthetic gemstones. At least 145 international suppliers are participating. Activities include seminars, buyer forums, jewellery parades and networking events. This Hong Kong gem show is also hosted by the HKTDC.

3. Lifestyle x Fashion (April 18 to 21, 2023)

Mounted by Global Sources, a B2B sourcing exhibition organizer since 2003, Lifestyle x Fashion is a “one-stop trade show” featuring a wide range of customized high-quality fashion, on-trend fashion accessories as well as products in the related categories including apparel and textiles, clothing and accessories, sports and leisure, beauty and health, and gifts and stationery.

There will be at least 1,020 booths divided into six pavilions, namely: Garments & Fabrics (300 booths), Fashion Accessories (350 booths), Sports Equipment (70 booths), Technology Gifts & Premiums (200 booths), Health & Personal Care (70 booths) and Pet Supplies (30 booths).

The booths are in line with market trends in the lifestyle and fashion sector. Among these trends are increasing consumer awareness about the need to stay fit as well as their preference to achieve fitness goals in the comfort of their homes; greater attention to sustainable and environmentally friendly products; the incorporation of technology elements in fashion and lifestyle products (such as winterwear that maintains a certain temperature and other innovations) and the growing demand for various pet supplies (not just pet toys and clothing but also grooming and medical products).

Global Sources Lifestyle x Fashion will take place at the AsiaWorld Expo (AWE).

4. SEASONS/ Spring 2023: Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fair (dates to be confirmed)

The specific dates are still to be announced for this spring show hosted by Informa Markets, but the HKCEC has been listed as the venue. This is a show for professional buyers and industry players in the fashion jewellery and accessories arena.

5. Jewellery & Gem ASIA (June 22 to 25, 2023)

Slated at the HKCEC, Jewellery & Gem ASIA Hong Kong or JGA, also previously known as the June Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, is organized by Informa Markets Jewellery, a division of London-based Informa Markets, a trade show and trade publishing company.

This Hong Kong gem show has been described as “the No. 1 midyear fine jewellery and gemstone sourcing event in the industry calendar.” Main products on exhibit are diamonds, colored gemstones and pearls from the biggest names in the precious materials sector.

The Hong Kong jewelry trade show is known for iconic pavilions displaying a diverse selection of fine and contemporary jewellery.

6. Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (September 18 to 22 and September 20 to 24, 2023)

Jewellery & Gem WORLD Hong Kong (JGW), formerly known as the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, is foremost among gems trade shows in Hong Kong, and is touted as “the No. 1 fine jewellery event in the world”.

This will be the 40th edition of this Hong Kong jewellery fair and will be held in two venues. AWE will be the site of JGW’s jewellery materials section and will take place from September 18 to 22.

Meanwhile, from September 20 to 24, the HKCEC will be the exhibit venue of products in categories such as finished jewellery, packaging solutions, tools and equipment, and jewellery industry-related technologies. According to organizer Informa Markets, “the show features the biggest Diamond Pavilion in the B2B space, Asia’s largest gemstone marketplace, the region’s leading pearl trading platform and the most significant selection of luxury jewellery creations from illustrious ateliers and established manufacturers.”

7. SEASONS/Autumn 2023: Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fair (dates to be confirmed)

The specific dates for this autumn show have yet to be confirmed but organizer Informa Markets describes this trade show as “a diverse fashion jewellery and accessories sourcing event.”

Exhibit categories include Fashion Essentials (which includes base metal, ceramic, enamel and pewter jewelry), Steel Glam (men’s jewellery as well as stainless steel and titanium jewellery), Natural Beauty (wood and wood bead jewellery), That’s a Wrap (packaging and display products) and Fashion Accents (belts, eyewear, fashion watches, headwear, handbags, perfumery, etc.)
