Berghaus collaborates with Gore-Tex to create a series of outdoor jackets and pants that are not only water-resistant but also environment-friendly.

Berghaus Ltd's Colourkind dyeing technology branches out to waterproofs as the UK-based outdoor apparel and equipment manufacturer enters an exclusive partnership with the US' fluoropolymer products specialist W.L. Gore & Associates Inc.
The collaboration allows the adoption of the Colourkind dyeing technology on Gore-Tex fabrics to create a new line of outdoor jackets that are not only water-resistant but environment-friendly as well.
According to a Berghaus press release, Colourkind fabric dyeing uses about 90 percent less water and 65 percent fewer chemicals, and reduces carbon dioxide emission by up to 60 percent.
The company added that the process entails colors to be added to the nylon chips before these are extruded into fibers, resulting in improved colorfastness.
The Colourkind technology is featured on the Island Peak men's and women's outdoor jackets and pants series, which combine a water-resistant and breathable 2L Gore-Tex membrane with a 40d Colourkind nylon ripstop face. The apparel collection also uses recycled fleece.
