Ohio-based Kent Displays offers the Play n' Trace as a variation of its Boogie Board LCD eWriter designed specifically for children.

Other kids' tablets adopt various apps to teach numerous subjects, including science, math and language. In contrast, Play n' Trace teaches specifically penmanship via several methods. Children can place the toy over a tablet PC, and trace patterns and pictures from the accompanying app.

The more traditional method, meanwhile, involves using the three templates bundled with the toy. A double-ended stylus, one for thick lines and the other for thin strokes, completes the set. Separate doodle activity packs with catchy themes such as Sea Life and Space Adventure are available. One pack features brush stylus for budding artists.

The tracing board is shaped like an artist's palette and has an ergonomic handle perfect for little hands. Sketches and doodles can be erased by pressing a button.
