Gaming PCs remain the top demand driver for cooling fans in the consumer electronics market. Despite the popularity of mobile and console gaming, gaming desktops are projected to have a CAGR of at least 12.7 percent between 2025 and 2037, according to Research Nester. In value terms, it is an increase from $67.02 billion in 2025 to $287.87 billion by 2037.

To snare a larger share of this sizeable application market, Chinese manufacturers of cooling and system fans emphasize high speed but low noise and a long operating life span. They add PWM control to ensure fan speed is based on real-time demand for cooling. This feature helps by reducing noise, power consumption and wear and tear from the constant high-speed operation typical of traditional DC fans.

A further improvement that manufacturers are implementing to lower noise levels and extend life span is the use of hydraulic bearings, especially in new product releases. This component, although more expensive than common sleeve and ball types, enables smoother and quieter operation and lasts longer because of reduced friction.

Dongguan Golden Field Industry Co. Ltd’s new Prism 5 Pro Black series has PWM technology that automatically adjusts speed from 650 to 1,800rpm at different temperatures. Its fan rotor has a hydraulic bearing, keeping noise levels at 6 to 30dB.

Many manufacturers also add ARGB lighting. This provides additional customization options and visual effects, high on PC gamers’ list of preferences for an enhanced play experience.

The CM-WF1 from Coolmoon Electronics (Dongguan) Co. Ltd is an ARGB fan with a hydraulic bearing, 800 to 1,800rpm speed, 23dB noise level and 60,000-hour life span. Jingsi (Shenzhen) Technology Co. Ltd’s A02-8714 is a cooling fan with a hydraulic bearing and 16dB noise. Its fan speed is 800 to 1,800rpm.

PC cooling fans with all three features are no longer uncommon. One example is the Crystal 120 from Guangzhou Pansheng Electronic Technology Co. Ltd, which offers PWM control and ARGB lighting effect. Its fan rotor is equipped with a hydraulic bearing, ensuring maximum noise at 20dB only, and the speed ranges from 600 to 1,600rpm.

Production expansion

With healthy demand, Chinese suppliers are continuing to boost their output, with a few investing further in new factories.

Huntkey, a major manufacturer of cooling fans, is supposed to have started operating on a mass scale at its 140,000sqm facility in late 2024. The project, on which the company spent a total of $138 million, is expected to realize an annual production value of $694 million.

Deep Cool, a first-tier company based in Beijing, has announced that it is investing $22.6 million to build a new factory in Malaysia. When completed, the site will be able to output 10.06 million heat sinks and cooling fans every year.

Most Chinese makers, including those with production facilities abroad, export between 30 and 60 percent of their cooling fans, mainly to Europe, North America and Asia.

China-made cooling fans

Cooling fans can be sourced from hundreds of suppliers in China, mostly domestic companies but including a number of foreign businesses. More than half of this pool is found in Guangdong and Fujian, specifically in Shenzhen, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Foshan, Guangzhou and Xiamen. Others are in Suzhou, Changzhou, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Yueqing and the provinces of Shandong, Shaanxi and Sichuan.

Widely available cooling fans from these companies measure 120x120mm. They have a rated voltage of 12VDC, fan speed of 600 to 1,800rpm, noise level of less than 30dB and life span exceeding 30,000 hours. UL, CE, FCC and RoHS safety standards are followed to ensure high quality.

Products outside these parameters can be made to meet custom requirements, which may cover materials and their sources and other specifications. Such cooling fans account for more than 30 percent of output.

Manufacturers usually turn to the domestic supply of plastic materials, favoring PBT, ABS, PP and nylon 66 for their heat, chemical, corrosion, shock and abrasion resistance. The cost of these inputs will generally remain stable in the near future, keeping product prices unchanged. However, it is possible that some companies will lower their quotes to win more orders.

Broad market

In addition to gaming PCs and other consumer electronics products, the cooling fan market has a wide reach in the automotive, IT and industrial spheres.

Encompassing all applications, this active cooling category will realize a CAGR of 10.4 percent based on its scale of $7.9 billion in 2022 and the projected value of $21.2 billion in 2032, according to Future Market Insights.
