China's VRLA battery selection of semigel and AGM units for electric vehicles comes in 5 to more than 1,000Ah capacity, and 2, 6, 8, 12, 16 and 18V nominal voltage. The former type leads supply.
Mainstream models for electric bikes are in 5 to 48Ah and 6, 12 and 16V, and those for golf carts, cars used for sightseeing and forklifts in 24 to above 1,000Ah and 6, 8, 12 and 16V.
Makers also offer 2V varieties with custom capacity and voltage ratings.
The main materials and components in VRLA battery manufacture include lead, vitriol, plastic and separators, and all are sourced from local providers.
Makers such as Shenzhen Power Kingdom Co. Ltd, Shenzhen Sunnyway Battery Tech Co. Ltd and Jiangxi Jingjiu Power Science & Technology Co. Ltd produce battery plates in-house. The third makes the plastic containers as well, while Shenzhen Power Kingdom uses lead inputs from its parent company Henan Yuguang Gold & Lead.
Lead and its compounds account for over 70 percent of total outlay. These come mainly from Guangdong, Fujian and Yunnan. Current cost is $1,900 per ton and will climb to $2,200 in 2016, according to BNP Paribas.
Even so, battery prices will remain unchanged due to intense competition in the line.

12Ah-rated VRLA battery
Bosfa Industrial Battery Co. Ltd's model EVX12-12 VRLA battery has 12Ah rated capacity, which suits electric vehicles, wheelchairs, medical equipment, UPS, control systems, power tools and toys.
The 12V unit with F2 terminals measures 151x98x95mm, with total height of 101mm, and weighs 4.2kg. It is priced at $14.39. The maker requires a minimum order of 500 units for delivery within 25 days.
20Ah VRLA battery meets CE, UL
The 12V20AH model from Jiangxi Jingjiu Power Science & Technology Co. Ltd is a 12V VRLA battery with nominal capacity of 20Ah. Its applications include electric bikes, golf carts, scooters, ride-on toys, wheelchairs, sprayers, lawnmowers, forklifts, and portable TVs and video equipment.
The 7±0.1kg battery is 181x77x170mm. It meets CE and UL requirements. The minimum order is 200 units, and the delivery lead time 3 days.
12V VRLA battery provides 18Ah
Shenzhen Power Kingdom Co. Ltd offers model PS18-12, a 12V VRLA battery with 18Ah rated capacity. The unit has T3 or T10 terminals. It measures 181x77x167mm and weighs 5.2kg. Price is $16.
The minimum order requirement for this CE-approved and UL-listed battery is 500 units, which are delivered within 30 days.
VRLA battery offers 200Ah
The model SW122000E VRLA battery from Shenzhen Sunnyway Battery Tech Co. Ltd features 200Ah rated capacity measured in 10-hour rate. It has 12V nominal voltage.
The unit with T11 or T19 terminals is 522x240x216mm, with total height reaching 242mm, and weighs 66kg. It conforms to CE, IEC, GB, JIS and UL guidelines.
The minimum order is 50 units and the delivery lead time 20 days.
