Corporate emblems and brand logos account for a large portion of Greater China's output of embroidered patches. These are often used on uniforms and promotional goods. Most releases adopt polyester thread as this is stronger and costs less than alternatives, including viscose and cotton. To make models more striking, companies are using metallic, reflective and glow-in-the-dark yarns. Sequins and beads, meanwhile, are utilized as embellishments.

Polyester, cotton twill and T/C are traditionally preferred for the ground, but several suppliers now utilize felt, velvet and PVC to increase variety. Iron-on backing, self-adhesive stickers and hook-and-loop tape can be placed at the rear.
