Mainland China's mainstream flexible LED strips for indoor and outdoor illumination integrate 30, 40 or 60 SMD diodes per meter. The LEDs have 10 to 18 lumens luminous flux, with those with 10 to 14 lumens the most widely used. These are mainly in sizes of 5050, 3528, 2835 and 3014. By emitted color, there are white, warm white, red, blue, green, yellow and RGB in chasing, flashing, jumping and fading modes.

Products have 6, 9, 12 or 24V rated voltage and are designed with an operating life of 50,000 to 100,000 hours. These come with an IP55 to IP68 rating.

The majority of manufacturers ensure releases comply with various standards, including CE, FCC and RoHS.

Companies use ICs from the US, Taiwan and locally. For the rest of the materials and components such as SMD LEDs, flexible PCBs, epoxy resin, PU and silica gel glue, and silicone tubes, they turn to the domestic supply unless buyers specify other sources.

The cost of manufacturing inputs went down slightly in 2015, resulting in a 5 percent price reduction. Most makers expect the same trend this year but will try to keep quotes flat to maintain profit margins.

Flexible LED strip in IP20, IP65, IP68

Changzhou Wujin Jiangnan's model JN5050-S60-RGB flexible LED strip features 60 5050 SMD RGB diodes per meter. It is rated at 12/24VDC.

The unit uses a white, black or brown PCB and comes with 3M adhesive tape. IP20, IP65 and IP68 versions are available. The minimum order is 1m, and delivery lead time is 3 days.
