China's typical cylindrical and prismatic Li-ion batteries come in 60 to 12,000mAh units. Packs are based on custom capacity.

Mainstream Li-ion batteries from China suppliers have capacity ranging from 60 to 12,000mAh and nominal voltages of 3.2, 3.6, 3.7 and 3.8V.

Cylindrical kinds come in 10440, 14430, 14500, 1350, 18650 and 26700 sizes. Units in 18650 form the bulk of output. These usually have 1,200 to 3,200mAh capacity and 3.6 or 3.7V nominal voltage.

Prismatic variants, which are in custom sizes, have 400 to 3,200mAh and 3.7 or 3.8V.

In battery packs, companies continue to highlight cell-to-cell conformity in aspects of capacity, voltage, impedance, and charge and discharge states for product stability and safety. Releases vary widely with buyers' requirements on capacity, voltage and dimensions. Models range from 3.2 to 576V, depending on the application.

For the 3C segment, especially consumer electronics, there are units based on NMC and NCA combinations, complementing the LiCoO₂-dominated selection. LiMn₂O₆ types are also on offer, targeting mainly power tools and electric bikes. For drones, Li-polymer variants constitute the primary category.

A few companies also turn out lithium-titanate batteries. They include Microvast, Citic Guoan Mengguli, Yintong and Tianjin EV Energies.

Manufacturers use local cathode and anode materials, and electrolytes, capitalizing on their wide availability there.

For the first input, including LiCoO₂, NMC, NCA, LiMn₂O₄ and LiFePO₄, the key providers include Hunan Shanshan Toda, Pulead, Xiamen Tungsten, Ningbo Jinhe and Hunan Reshine. Cathodes account for more than 30 percent of total cost.

As for anode materials, graphite remains widely used. Shenzhen BTR, Hunan Shanshan Toda, Jiangxi Zichen and Hunan Shinzoom are among the major sources.

Separators are still obtained mostly from foreign companies such as Asahi, Celgard and Tonen.

Input and component costs are relatively stable and will keep prices steady in 2017.

Here is a selection of Li-ion batteries and packs from China.
