China suppliers of microswitches plan to release units that support up to 5 million mechanical life cycles in coming years.

High reliability and compact size remain product development priorities among manufacturers of microswitches in China. They are working on extending operating life to 3 million to 5 million cycles, while miniaturization efforts have yielded low-profile types with less than 6.5mm in height.

Shenzhen Vision S&T has introduced 3 million-cycle microswitches for computer mice and targets releases with a longer life span in the next one or two years.

China's mainstream selection comes in miniature, subminiature and ultraminiature types for electronic products, computers and peripherals, medical devices, home appliances, electric tools and military applications. There are regular and water-resistant kinds, with the latter in IP65 to IP68 options. Units have a mechanical life span starting at 30,000 cycles, with those lasting 100,000, 200,000, 500,000 and 1 million cycles widely offered.

Key materials such as beryllium bronze, tin bronze, stainless steel, nylon 66 and silicone rubber are sourced from local providers, although requests for imported versions are accommodated.

The cost of manufacturing inputs is expected to stay stable this year.
