Holiday decor suppliers are expanding their selections to include more models for Easter, Halloween and other occasions.

Christmas decorations still account for the majority of handcrafted holiday decor made in the Philippines, but designs for Easter, Halloween and other occasions are increasing.

Suppliers are using natural materials to differentiate their products. Ferns, grasses, herbs, leaves, seeds, screwpines, seeds, shells, vines and wood are among those typically seen in Philippine designs.

The adoption of environment-friendly manufacturing inputs is also a strong trend among makers. Releases in line with this trend include figurines and ball ornaments made from recycled paper. Some makers are using fabric scraps sourced from local textile producers for the clothing of figurines.

Sinamay and other abaca-based inputs are obtained mainly from the Bicol region in Luzon, the islands of Leyte and Samar in the Visayas, and the northern part of Mindanao. Capiz shells are procured mostly from the provinces of Cebu and Capiz in Visayas.

For beads, sequins, paint and textiles, holiday decor makers often source from vendors in Divisoria, a commercial center in the city of Manila. These sellers typically get their supplies from China or India.

Brass and galvanized iron sheets are procured primarily from the Quiapo district in Manila, while recycled paper and chipboard are sourced from vendors in the cities of Quezon and Caloocan.
