Hopeful fans may yet live to see a sequel to Saban's Power Rangers 2017 feature film despite the poor international box-office performance. Apparently, what the movie lacked in ticket sales and reception, it made up for in merchandise.

According to the NPD Group, Power Rangers has quickly grabbed the number one action figures spot with a year-to-date increase of 122.8 percent. Notably, this year's April sales saw a growth of 185.9 percent compared to 2016, securing the brand's 11th place ranking among all toy properties.

Bandai, the official toy partner of Saban, is currently gearing up for a slew of consumer activities in preparation for Power Rangers Ninja Steel this July, which marks the franchise's 25th anniversary.

Debuting last March 2017, Lionsgate's Power Rangers reboot raked in $140 million in domestic and foreign sales during its screening. It is slated for release in Japan this July.
