The latest smart door locks from China do not require keys for entry and instead adopt advanced sensors to identify fingerprints and facial features. Units can recognize 300 fingerprints and 50 faces. Some high-end versions can even store biometrics of up to 1,000 users. Recognition time is ≤0.1s. Models can also be unlocked via passwords or RFID cards.
For enhanced security, the locks give out loud audio alerts when being opened forcibly. Many pair with smartphone apps that alert homeowners when the units detect unrecognized biometrics or if a wrong password is entered.
In terms of structure, units are often made of 304 stainless steel, and suits between 35 to 80mm-thick doors. Most are water- and vandal-resistant, and come in a variety of glossy finishes. Touchscreens and OLED displays can also be incorporated.
