A recent business tour organized by the Global Electronics Intelligent Manufacturing Show (GEIMS Vietnam) for a select group of exhibitors has showcased Vietnam's rapid ascent as a leading electronics manufacturing destination, drawing parallels to China's two-decade transformation into the world's factory.The tour highlighted Vietnam's growing electronics supply chain ecosystem, including stops at the Huaqiang North Electronic Mall and the SMT Electronics Service Center in Bac Ninh.
The tour also facilitated a "1V1" business-matching program, connecting GEIMS Vietnam exhibitors with 15 prominent Vietnamese purchasing enterprises, including industry giants like Samsung Electronics.
The positive feedback about the activity from exhibitors underscores the growing appeal of Vietnam as a strategic production base for China's electronics powerhouses. GEIMS Vietnam Tour: Networking and Business-matching Events
Networking at Huaquiang North Electronic Mall and SMT Electronics Service Center
The tour's first stop, the Vietnam Huaqiang North Electronic Mall, provided a window into Vietnam's burgeoning electronics supply chain ecosystem. Much like the comprehensive industrial hubs that fueled China's manufacturing boom, the mall houses a diverse array of players – from component suppliers and logistics providers to firms offering financial services. Some 60 percent of the mall's merchants are directly tied to the electronics manufacturing supply chain. The remaining 40 percent of merchants at the Vietnam Huaqiang North Electronic Mall are companies that provide complementary services like warehousing/logistics and those that sell final 3C products to consumers.
This concentrated hub of suppliers has created an appealing landing spot for Chinese electronics firms seeking to establish a Vietnam foothold. The mall's one-stop-shop model allows these companies to efficiently source materials and services, replicating the cost advantages that propelled China's own electronics manufacturing success.
The tour's second stop, the SMT Electronics Service Center in Bac Ninh, further underscored Vietnam's evolving manufacturing capabilities. The service center offers Chinese equipment suppliers a convenient entry point, providing training, after-sales support, and other critical services to help lower the barriers to market entry.
Around 20 equipment enterprises, many of them GEIMS Vietnam exhibitors, have already established a presence at the center. A representative of one of the companies that have set up at the SMT center in Bac Ninh told tour delegates that GEIMS Vietnam was instrumental in building their initial network.
"We made friends and contacted many potential partners through GEIMS Vietnam," the representative said.
1V1: Business-matching with local enterprises
As part of the business tour, GEIMS Vietnam organizers invited 15 prominent Vietnam-based purchasing enterprises of electronics firms – including Samsung Electronics, Longcheer Tonly, Zion and HQ Electronics, and others – to participate in a "1V1" business-matching program. The event provided a platform for these major purchasing enterprises to directly connect with GEIMS Vietnam exhibitors, many of whom were eager to establish a manufacturing presence in the Southeast Asian nation.
GEIMS Vietnam organizers observed the “warm atmosphere of enterprise exchange” between enterprises at the gathering. Over the course of the event, 54 one-on-one matches were made, with each exhibitor meeting with three to five purchasing companies.
The opportunity to engage directly with such influential China brands was a rare boon for the GEIMS Vietnam exhibitors. As one participant noted, "It is very difficult to match with them in China, but this time GEIMS Vietnam invited so many enterprises to come to Vietnam at one time, it [is a] very rewarding [experience]."The exhibitors further praised GEIMS Vietnam matchmaking services, with one stating that "this kind of service has never been experienced before, both in domestic exhibitions and foreign exhibitions."
One participant, from TKD Science and Technology Co. Ltd, reported gaining significant value from the event. "We met six purchasing companies on the spot and had opportunities for further cooperation with IBE and HQ, especially Samsung Electronics," the representative said. "After our on-site docking, Samsung was interested in us and immediately went to the purchasing office of Samsung in Hanoi on June 20th, and we were very satisfied."
Another delegate, a representative of Sinic-Tek Co. Ltd – AOI Equipment, expressed similar enthusiasm. "We are quite satisfied with this activity," the company representative said. "A buyer I hadn't signed up for a match had come forward and wanted to talk to us. The [GEIMS] organizers quickly built the WeChat group for docking. It turned out that Fullink is [one of] our customers in China. We haven't connected with anyone in Vietnam before. Global Sources seems to be completely different from other shows we attend, the matchmaking and business exam services are great and very rewarding."

According to a post-event survey participated in by 23 of the 30 participants, 13 companies indicated they had a "highly recognized" impression of GEIMS Vietnam following the tour, while another 9 reported being "recognized." This reflects the strengthened brand awareness and credibility the exhibition has built among industry players.
Furthermore, 14 companies stated they would be "very willing" to recommend GEIMS Vietnam to their peers and colleagues, with another 9 expressing a willingness to do so. This endorsement highlights the high value that exhibitors place on the show and its ability to facilitate meaningful business connections.
Several exhibitors also shared specific insights gained from the tour. The tour delegate from TKD Technology Co., Ltd. said they were able to further engage with Samsung to better understand the Vietnamese market and investment considerations. Shenzhen Earlysun Technology Co. Ltd’s representative gained deeper knowledge of the local cost structure, supply chain, and industrial layout for setting up operations in Vietnam.
Infotronic International Ltd (HK)’s delegate learned that the Vietnamese electronic components supply chain is still nascent, presenting opportunities for expansion. The participant from Shenzhen Zhicheng Technology Co., Ltd. also came away with a clearer understanding of the local industry, government support policies, and investment risk factors.
