Traditional shapes flourish

Amidst the global hype for recently launched V-, tomb-, dome-, boat- or double curve-shaped pieces, easy-to-carry rectangular, bucket, U-shaped, round, polygon and trapezoid bags remain popular in India.

Midrange shoulder-, hand-, tote-, saddle- and clutch bags in polyester-satin or -silk, organza, velvet and PU go for $15.50 to $25. Models have a polyester-satin lining and glass or metal beads and sequins, crystals and faux pearls. Zardozi embroidery and border details are optional.

High-end handbags, clutches and purses are in silk, satin or velvet with cowhide or sheepskin, or polyester-satin lining. The zardozi embroidery is more complex compared to lower-priced versions. Models have allover metal chains and glass beads. These are quoted $25.50 to $50 and above.
