Haier's home automation robot is nanny, guard

Besides controlling home appliances by voice, Haier's Ubot can alert of intrusion or home emergencies, and act as a child or elder's companion

Ubot is Haier's first home automation robot which debuted in CES 2016. The robot, capable of listening, speaking, seeing, smelling, walking and thinking functions as a safeguard, smart home keeper, children's playmate and elder's companion.

Haier's Ubot controls air conditioners, purifiers, water heaters, washing machines, lights and security products through voice. It monitors temperature and humidity in real time. If there is water or electric leakage or fire, it triggers alarms. When there are intruders, it sends alerts, images and videos to home owners.

The robot can also tell stories and sing nursery rhymes to children, and remind the elderly to take their medicine.

Haier will upgrade the model in June to add video doorphone, anti-collision and -fall, dance and PM2.5 monitoring features.
