HP is on a roll in catering to niche PC markets recently. The company's Spectre 13 is not only the world's thinnest laptop, but it has also received positive reviews that compare it favorably with Apple's MacBook line. The company is likewise working on the Omen X VR PC Pack for gamers. HP has more in store for the gaming community since it likely recognizes that this is a lucrative market. The new Omen X Desktop gives PC gamers a lot of power in a unique, cubic design. Best of all, the large form factor makes customizing the machine easy for those who want to be able to swap out their own components.

The shape of the new Omen X Desktop is meant to be stylish and functional. The case is a cube that is propped up on one of its corners. It is large enough to have three individual chambers, keeping hot components separated from each other, according to Engadget. The product has a room for dual-graphics cards and four HDD bays that do not require any tools to get drives in and out. The PC also includes an M.2 SSD.

Other specifications are top of the line, as can be expected from a gaming PC. The computer will start at $1,799, which gets consumers a 4GHz Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM and a Radeon RX 480 graphics card. This version also comes with a 256GB SSD and 2TB HDD, giving people a fast drive to run games off and a larger one to keep other data. This is all pumped up by a 1,300W power supply. The more expensive version will cost $2,100 and give users a GeForce GTX 1080 with 16GB of RAM.

HP seems to be one of the few companies thinking about gaming PCs in new ways right now. The VR PC backpack shows HP is forward thinking about where the industry is headed, but it is not forgetting the traditional market, where a lot of opportunity still exists. Gaming is one of the few PC submarkets still seeing growth, but HP is showing that makers do not have to settle for just swapping out a processor or sticking more RAM into a staid PC tower. Gaming PCs can be innovative, too, and HP is proving it.
