Craig Pepples, President of Global Sources China Business Group receives the award from Intelbras' Ado Evangelista.

Global Sources was awarded by Intelbras for its five-year partnership and cooperation during the China Sourcing Fairs held in October 2013 at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong.

“The Private Sourcing Events and Vendor Summits brought instant recognition to Intelbras,” said Juan Carlos Carrillo, product manager. “Before that, we normally used to spend lots of time searching vendors and introducing ourselves. After that, the potential vendors started to come to us. That changed the balance in the negotiations.

“We have found many suppliers through the different Global Sources’ channels. I would say we have found about 20 suppliers over the years, most of whom we have established long-term relationships with.”

Intelbras, a 100-percent Brazilian company, offers telephone, telephone PBX, and residential condominium PBX products. In 2013, it reported revenues of $350 million. It has over 40,000 retail outlets, 18,000 corporate dealers, and exports to 14 countries.

Craig Pepples, President of China Business Group at Global Sources, said, “Over the years, Intelbras has been extremely engaged with Chief Executive China's export forum series. Their participation has given our supplier community a clear view of the special characteristics of the Brazilian and Latin American markets. Intelbras has also been an active participant in our Private Sourcing Events program.

“Intelbras executives have told me how the PSEs have helped them locate a number of new suppliers. The prize for Global Sources is an expression of their appreciation for this at a time when they are setting and meeting aggressive targets for their company’s sales growth. It is a pleasure and an honor to work with such a professional and rapidly growing new market player.”

The event was attended by about 70 guests. Representing Global Sources at the award ceremony were COO Brent Barnes; Pepples; Bernie Holmbraker, vice president, community & content; and Artemisa Hernandez, buyer events & services manager. Intelbras was represented by Mateus Conde, chief representative officer; Ado Evangelista, general manager of supply chain; and Carrillo.

The event coincided with the company’s Supplier Meeting, which included 12 procurement representatives and more than 50 vendors. These include Shenzhen Longhorn Technology Co. Ltd, Streamax Technology Co. Ltd, and Zhejiang Dahua Technology Co. Ltd.

Intelbras has a presence not only throughout Brazil and in other Latin American countries, but in Africa as well. The company has nearly 1,800 collaborators and has been recognized as one of the best companies to work for in Brazil, according to research conducted by Você S/A Exame, and Época magazines.
