Huawei will use InvenSense's positioning technology in its Kirin 950 processor.

Fabless sensor platform company InvenSense Inc. has licensed its sensor-assisted positioning technology to China's Huawei for inclusion in the latter's Kirin 950 application processor.

The Kirin 950 was designed by Huawei's semiconductor subsidiary HiSilicon Technologies Co. Ltd for implementation in TSMC's 16nm FinFET manufacturing process technology. It includes four Cortex-A72 cores running at up to 2.3GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.8GHz as well as an "always-on" i5 sensor coprocessor. The product also has a Category 6 LTE modem and graphics processing in the form of a Mali T880 GPU.

The recently launched Mate-8 smartphone from Huawei is the first mobile phone to include the HiSilicon Kirin 850 and the InvenSense Positioning Library, InvenSense said.
