Invista, the US-based fiber and polymer giant and the company behind the Lycra brand, unveiled recently its global intimate apparel, swimwear and athleisure trends, and fashion directions for 2017-18. Working with Netherlands' trend forecasting agency Stijlinstituut Amsterdam, which predicted the must-have trends for 2017-18, Invista launched its latest Lycra capsule collection.
In all, the company presented four intimate apparel and three swimwear trends highlighting the rise in health, fitness and mindfulness as a lifestyle and engaging the motto "I Am Every Woman."
Optimised Self is the first intimate apparel trend, which emphasizes body balance. The fabrics used adopt Coolmax technology for shifting sweat and Lycra Power technology compressing the muscles for optimal performance. The collection also utilizes Lycra's new cooling technology that combines comfort and moisture management while the brand's Fresh FX technology allows garments to retain freshness.
In Flawless Me, the use of Lycra Beauty Cooling provides skin pampering through sculptural shaping and maintaining a feeling of freshness. Garments adopt draping fabrics in a palette of pale shades.
Featuring effeminate lace designs, Most Feminine Me utilizes Lycra's Xtra Fine technology to impart smooth-fitting property and Easy Set technology that allows the use of heat-sensitive fibers such as viscose and acetate. Asia-inspired hues, including sunlight yellow with a golden hue, kimono green, vapor gray, deep hazel and rose, are used.
The Rebel In Me, the last trend in intimate wear, pieces reflect a fusion of folk and modern art. The style incorporates the brand's shaping technology, uses material such as leather and lace, and comes in contrasting shades with black as the base color. Lycra Black technology is adopted for deeper and darker hues.
My Wild Side banners Invista's swimwear trend. The collection integrates Lycra Shaping technology in lightweight textiles. Pieces come in cool shades such as arctic and fresh opaline green, dolphin beige and beet red stone blue. Animalskin and tribal patterns with leather look accentuate the swimwear.
In Better Me, engineered illusions redesigning the female form are featured. The style highlights curves and uses the brand's Black technology to create illusory shaping. Models in the collection are chlorine-resistant and are almost free of spandex. A palette of bright white, barely blue and steel gray with a shot of cayenne is also adopted.
Playful Self offers versatility through personalized swimwear. Utilizing the brand's LastingFIT technology, pieces are easy and comfortable to wear. Fabrics are bold and plain, or with geometric patterns or collage-type blocking. It also adopts Black technology.
