Imagine owning a pair of jeans that will never get dirty or smell bad. A crowdfunding campaign that is taking Kickstarter by storm promises just that.
Odo Denim, a specialist in environment-friendly clothing and textiles, unveiled recently jeans that repel stains and odor buildup. This means less washing, which also means less water consumption.
The secret is in the patent-pending fabric that is woven with 99.9 percent pure silver-bonded polymer. The threads are said to release positively charged silver ions that kill odor-producing bacteria. The denim fabric also adopts nanoparticles that reduce contact between stain-causing elements and the textile's surface, making it easier for liquids such as coffee and ketchup to just roll off the pants. Because of this self-cleaning property, users are able to save significant amounts of water.
Odo Denim offers the jeans in raw, rinsed, and dark and light washed finished. Different cuts for men and women are available.
In just its first week, the crowdfunding project has already exceeded its $10,000 goal. As of the writing, it has raised more than $150,000 from at least 1,200 backers with about three weeks to go in its campaign.
