Partnering with eyewear manufacturer Vuzix, Lenovo is expected to launch its first foray into the smart wearables market in September or October with the M100 smart glasses. The device is expected to be aimed at enterprise customers in China, and is expected to be sold for around US$1,000. Interestingly, while ostensibly a competitor to Google, it runs Android 4.04, and the device itself clearly takes a number of cues from Google Glass.

Along with the "glasses" themselves, Vuzix is also expected to sell accessories that will make the design more modular and useful in a number of situations. The device can be mounted on safety glasses or on a headband-type mount that can be used in industrial or other enterprise applications.

It also appears to be more ruggedly designed than Google's offering. While Google Glass has been more oriented towards consumers, the business-focused nature of Vuzix and Lenovo's offering in China may be more appropriate for Chinese customers at this price point.

Lenovo also unveiled a prototype in July with outward features very similar to Google Glass. The device outwardly appears almost identical, though the battery pack is housed in a different place (around the user's neck). While the hardware and software specifications were not disclosed—Lenovo is expected to announce the device formally in October—the device has reportedly been developed in-house by Lenovo and may be more focused on the consumer market.
