Among the latest products from Wink is Relay, a light switch panel with a 4.3in touchscreen that carries smart home controls and other interesting features.
The smart light switch can turn on or off smart appliances. It could grab the attention of fitness enthusiasts with support for FitBit, making it capable of showing number of steps and track exercise routine progress. The device also runs Uber’s app, helping the homeowner hail a ride as he or she steps out of the home.
In addition, Relay has IFTTT integration, which is very helpful for families. Children can push the smart light switch, and parents would be notified via text message that their child just got home. The unit also functions as an intercom, allowing anyone in the house to talk to each other despite being in different areas of the house. Relay also has sensors for indicating environment temperature and humidity.
Users can adjust settings directly on the panel, a more convenient and faster way of customizing and operating one’s smart home as compared to using a smartphone which needs to be taken out of one’s bag while heading out.
Relay is priced $99 apiece, and installation by a professional electrician is recommended.
