Colors inspired by our natural environment are expected to dominate fabrics this coming summer and spring.
We live at a time when consumers have become aware of the effects of their purchasing decisions in the environment. Sustainability and circularity now play a big role on how consumers decide which brands to follow and which items to buy.
'Green' and cruelty-free materials are on top of the list of what buyers look for when choosing fashion apparel and accessories. Because of this, products made of environment-friendly and recyclable fibers are receiving increased attention.
But this longing for nature is reflected not only the type of materials. The calming of effect of nature-inspired hues is also a major draw consumers as this color palette is expected to dominate fabrics come spring and summer 2020.
Below are the top shades.
Tranquil neutrals. More brands and designers will be turning to natural and sustainable fibers such as linen, jute and organic cotton. As a result, off-white, cream and ecru will be popular. These shades will be paired with structured and minimalist silhouettes, and rustic textures.
Oceanic. The calming effect of the sea cannot be denied. This will lead to the adoption of muted shades of aqua, turquoise and blue. Deeper shades of blue reminiscent of the night sea are also predicted to rise. Ruffles, fluid finishes and nautical prints will add to the oceanic look.
Greenery. What is nature without the greens? Dark forest greens and citric yellow will be seen in utilitarian fashion, including cargo pants, fishing vests and multipocket shirts. The shade will be seen in lightweight and technical fabrics.
Into the dusk. Sunset will be a huge inspiration. The elegant mix of red, orange and fuchsia will be seen in all types of apparel from sundresses to spring jackets.
