Under new leadership, the industry association commits to greater member engagement.

The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) has chosen a new chairman, Scott Yates of The Denver Lumber Co.

At the ProDealer Industry Summit held late October, Yates talked about his objectives for his tenure as chair.

According to the chairman, the main aim of the association is to oversee local and federal governments to avoid bad and unnecessary regulations.

Among the objectives he cited was improved member engagement, by having a large portion of the 6,000 dealers across the nation cooperate with the regional association, the NLBMDA, and the Lumber Dealers Political Action Committee.

As the president and general manager of the Denver Lumber Co., Yates has had extensive experience in the lumber and building materials industry.
