Nutricosmetics, digestible beauty products that contain nutrients that revitalize the skin, hair and nails, and sometimes slim the body, are currently gaining a following among beauty mavens.

A recent report from Global Industry Analysts, Inc. revealed that the global nutricosmetics market, worth $3.36 billion in 2013, is expected to generate more than $7 billion in sales by 2020. According to the market intelligence firm, this growth is "driven by the beauty-from-within trend and a resulting preference in oral nutritional supplements for appearance maintenance."

Ready-to-drink beverages are currently experiencing the biggest upsurge in the market. The category includes herbal teas, fortified water and exotic fruit juices such as pomegranate, acai and goji.

The study also noted that apart from basic hydration, consumers are looking for functional beverages that not only taste good but can be a rich source of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.

The US is the fastest-growing market for nutricosmetics with a CAGR of 11.2 percent from 2015 to 2020. Increased awareness about the benefits of nutricosmetics and product innovation are the main growth drivers in the country.
