It seems that not even an ongoing pandemic can stop adrenaline junkies seeking adventure and hitting the trails with their all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). And just as people were becoming more comfortable with the idea of going back outdoors for recreational riding, ATV trails also started to reopen, leading to a mini boom.

Many people are taking ATV vacations to enjoy outdoor adventures while avoiding areas with COVID-19 cases, according to Hatfield-McCoy Trail Authority Executive Director Jeffrey Lusk. "It's easy to social distance," Lusk told WVNS-TV shortly after ATV trails across West Virginia were allowed to reopen under strict health measures in 2020. "There's no forced interaction with anyone except the folks you came with. It really does fit the bill for a social-distancing vacation. You really don't have to interact with anyone while you're here." Riders, however, are still mandated to follow guidelines from state health officials, which include wearing face coverings and undergoing temperature checks.

While the beginning of the pandemic put a halt on most outdoor recreational activities, a decline in COVID cases - owing to factors such as vaccine rollouts and social distancing - will continue to boost consumer confidence in enjoying their fast-paced hobbies, especially now that many countries have started to loosen restrictions.

Aside from recreational activities, sports and military use are also expected to boost ATV sales globally, according to a report by Allied Market Research. From a sizable value of $7.6 billion in 2017, the global ATV and UTV market is expected to increase at a CAGR of 6.7 percent from 2020 to 2027 and reach $11.95 billion by 2027.

Chain drive

The 12V, 1,000W 300CC ATV-022D from Jinjiang Jiaxing Supply Management Co.
