Pinterest unveils hottest home interior trends for 2018

2018 is the year of statement styles and colors in home interior, according to Pinterest . Out are plain and neutral hues, and in are large-sized ornamentation, polychromatic styles and geometric patterns.

The popular visual social media platform has become a source of inspiration not only for netizens searching for the latest fashion trends but also for those looking stylish home ideas. In fact, according to Pinterest, its home decoration content has risen 75 percent in 2017 from last year.

The company analyzed saves and searches by its 200 million users to identify the top 100 trends in 10 main categories. Based on the numbers, here some of the trends Pinterest sees will dominate home interiors in 2018.

Oversized artworks: Large wall hangings such as paintings and photo prints will be a hit.

Green is in: Soothing tones of green will dominate the color palette.

Patterned plants: Indoor greens with geometric and multicolor leaves will give home interiors a relaxing and revitalizing vibe.

Metallic look: Metal is expected to incorporate a stylish element into homes. Copper, brass and silver ornamentation are hot options.

Playful ceiling: White is no longer the in-thing in ceilings. Enliven this part of the house by covering it with wallpaper in vivid hues.

Retouched wooden floors: Wooden floors will come alive with a range of color and patterns.

Terrazzo style: Terrazzo flooring is making a comeback, seen in chips of stone, marble, quartz or glass mixed in cement.

Spa inspired: The popularity of spas and hydrotherapy centers will extend to homes in 2018.

Colorful doors: Brightly colored doors will provide a good first impression.

Marquetry: This art of creating scenes and patterns using wood is forecasted to draw attention.
