China companies prepare to meet orders based on the latest DisplayPort standard as they also undertake output expansion for DisplayPort 1.3 units.

China makers of DisplayPort cable assemblies continue to advance the line, planning releases based on the latest 1.4 specification for high-end A/V devices while increasing the production share of 1.3 units.
Some companies will have actual DP 1.4 models by the latter part of the year. Other suppliers such as Guangdong King Link Industrial Co. Ltd will be ready to develop such types when the orders come in. Based on the updated standard, which was finalized in March this year, compliant units support 8K 60Hz or 4K 120Hz HDR deep color, and expanded audio transport, besides boasting compatibility with Thunderbolt and USB Type-C interfaces.
At present, manufacturers focus on boosting their DP 1.3 lineup to take advantage of climbing demand as the standard steadily takes over the DVI market. Such cable assemblies have maximum bandwidth of 32.4Gbps, which is 50 percent higher than their predecessors, and allow up to 5K resolution. These account for 10 to 20 percent of total local shipments for the line. For companies such as Guangdong King Link, the share already exceeds 50 percent. The supplier said it is ready to raise this further depending on the requirement.
There are about 100 makers of DisplayPort 1.3 cable assemblies in China, and more than 70 percent are locally owned. All offer USB and HDMI interconnects as well. For most, DisplayPort products account for 10 to 20 percent of output. Fullink Electronics Technology (SZ) Ltd plans to raise its DP shipment proportion to 15 percent or higher in anticipation of orders locally and abroad.
Over 60 percent of the suppliers there congregate in Guangdong province, specifically in the cities of Dongguan and Shenzhen.
