Safety comes first on the road. Reckless driving, driving under the influence and road rage are common causes of accidents that result in vehicle damage, injury and in worst-case scenarios, death. In 2021, the WHO estimated that 1.3 million people die each year as a result of road accidents.
While accidents are often avoidable, they can still happen no matter how careful drivers are. In these instances, they can be faced with legal matters such as claiming insurance or proving whose responsibility the accident was. This is where interior car accessories such as dashcams and car DVRs come in handy – they provide the footage needed as evidence. Furthermore, dashcams also record incidents that happen while a car is parked, offering additional protection and peace of mind that if a break-in or vandalism happens, the event will be documented.
The latest dashcams, car DVR mirrors and DVR systems use high-resolution and wide-angle image sensors and lenses that capture even fast-moving details needed to make footage useful. They’re also equipped with infrared for night vision and a motion sensor for added security.
According to research provider 24 Market Reports, the global dashcam market will exhibit a CAGR of 10.6 percent during the forecast period of 2021 to 2028, with an initial value of $4.21 billion rising to $8.536 billion.
