    Integrated GPS

    Hong Kong Way Po Tat added GPS capability to the model PT35A-UHF-1-2-1 RFID reader. The unit adopts a u-blox 5010 or 6010 GPS chip and an LEA-6S, 6T or 6N module. Operating frequencies are 134.2kHz, FDX-B/HDX and 125kHz for low frequency, and RF30 and RF60 for high frequency. The handheld RFID reader runs on Android 4.0. It functions as a 1D or 2D barcode scanner. The unit adopts a Marvell PXA910 communication platform. It has 512MB each of RAM and ROM, and a supports 32GB TF card.

    Biometrics supported

    Nanjing Corewise Smart Technology Inc.
    The A370U-4 model from Nanjing Corewise adopts a fingerprint scanner to authenticate a user before reading the RFID card. The unit operates at 13.56 or 915MHz and works with ISO 18000-6C and ISO 15693 protocols. It reads ISO/IEC 14443 A and ISO/IEC 14443 cards. Priced between $399 and $699, the handheld unit can also be used to scan 2D QR and barcodes. It is powered by a Qualcomm MSM 8225 dual-core 1.2GHz processor running on Android 4.1. The TFT LCD is 7in and uses a capacitive touchscreen. Wireless capability is enabled via WLAN 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.1.

    For 125K, Mifare, Legic cards

    Shanghai Smarfid’s FS322-8N-VT0-BB/FS323-8N-VT0-BB-0 model works with 125K, Mifare and Legic cards, supporting on-site reader configuration of certain parameters. The front plate is customizable and backlighting can be requested. The RFID reader operates at 10 to15VDC at a maximum 150mA and 13.56MHz. Typical reading range is 3 to 5cm. The PC+ABS casing comes in black or white and measures 115.5x84.5x20.5mm. The metal backplate helps protect read range and allows mounting on various sizes of gangboxes.

    Passcode supported

    Shenzhen Creature Technology Co. Ltd
    The IP65-rated K1-F model from Shenzhen Creature allows access via an RFID card, passcode or a combination of both. It can store 1,000 card details and passcodes. Reading range is 5 to 10cm at a frequency of 125kHz. Priced from $20 to $25, the model has anti-tamper, watchdog timer, power reset and self-recovery functions. It can be connected to an external unlock button. Power source options are 12 to 15VDC and 9 to 13VAC. Shenzhen Creature requires an MOQ of 5 units for the 119x85x21mm product.

    ≤1 second detection

    Shenzhen Newabel Electronic Co. Ltd
    Reaching $100, the model CHD602MTD-2 RFID reader from Shenzhen Newabel can detect a card in roughly 1 second from a distance of about 10cm. Operating frequency is 13.56MHz. The model has a 12-button keypad with a white backlight. Its operating and storage temperatures are -10 to 50 and -40 to 70 C at about 90 percent humidity. It emits an alarm to prevent tampering. The product bears the in-house CHD brand. MOQ is 12 units.

    Identification, access control

    Shenzhen Nexqo Technology Co. Ltd
    Shenzhen Nexqo’s model NEX-530 desktop RFID reader is designed for monitoring identification, access control, offline ticketing and payment, and time management at various establishments, including clubs, libraries and schools. It works with Mifare ISO 14443 Type A or B or ISO 15693 cards at an operating distance of 50 to 100mm. Operating frequency is 13.56MHz while baud rate is 9,600 to 115,200 bit/s. The 100x100x30mm unit consumes 5VDC ±5 percent.

    Passive mid-distance reader

    Tech-sky’s ZK-RF101 (8DB) model is a passive mid-distance RFID reader with an 8dBi omnidirectional polarized antenna. Read range is between 0 and 6m while operating frequency is 902 to 928MHz. The unit adopts EPC Class 1 Gen 2 and ISO 18000-6b protocols. It supports RS-232, RS-485 and Wiegand. Various work modes are available, including auto-running, interactive and trigger-activating. Priced between $150 and $200, the RFID reader suits a range of applications, including logistics, and warehouse storage, intelligent parking lot and production line management.
