E-Commerce analytics firm One Click Retail has reported that sales for Amazon's robot toy offerings have increased by 40 percent. Posting a growth amounting to at least $25 million, the category has quickly made its way into Amazon's top 25 toy categories last year. The sector covers vehicles, drones, exploration kits, and role-play and educational models.
The growth in sales only proves that Amazon is a strong contender in a very tight and competitive consumer tech industry. Recently, it was revealed that the e-commerce giant grabbed 20 percent, or $12 billion, of the entire consumer electronics market share in the US, which is currently valued at $74 billion. Globally, however, Amazon's sales managed to penetrate Europe with $1.71 billion in Germany last 2016, and $439 million in the UK for the first quarter of 2017.
The secret lies in online retail strategy, according to One Click Retail CEO Spencer Millerberg. "In 2017, for brands to remain as intelligent as the device they produce, they need to be focusing their retail strategies on online marketplaces like Amazon if they expect to take the online consumer tech buying trend by storm.", he explains in a press release.
This summer, Amazon predicts that STEM toys would be the top-sellers, including the Ozobot smart robot toy kit, Aquapod bottle launcher and Educational Insights GeoSafari subscope.
Amazon's video game category is also faring well, enjoying an 11 percent sales growth in the US' $30 billion video games industry, thanks to bundle options.
