Appliance giant Sharp has introduced the Tea-Ceré, a tea-making machine that enables users to prepare matcha tea in the traditional manner, albeit faster.

Prior to the Tea-Ceré, preparing matcha the old way is tedious. A lot of time is spent whisking together hot water and tea powder until the latter froths. It also requires an amount of skill to attain the right consistency and taste.

The Tea-Ceré is designed to grind tea leaves into fine powder. Then, depending on the user's preference, the tea will be brewed hot or cold. Four cups can be prepared simultaneously. To get a frothier beverage, it is recommended to brew one cup at a time.

Matcha is steadily rising in popularity even in the West, although coffee remains the go-to pick-me-up beverage. Matcha is a variation of green tea and is essentially a plant in powdered form. It is said to contain less caffeine, making it an ideal substitute for those who want to reduce caffeine intake.
