Switzerland-based Logitech has just made different aspects of the smart home controllable through a press of a button. The company released Logitech Pop, a small button switch that can manage smart locks, window systems, speakers and lighting, including Hue and LIFX lights.
The button is programmable, allowing users to customize commands for single and double presses. It can also switch on or off other appliances such as TVs by working with a compatible remote controller from the company.
Logitech’s Pop goes for $99, inclusive of two buttons and a base. It caters to smart home consumers who do not want to deal with complicated interfaces. Many smart homes are run by switches that can only accommodate few devices or by hubs that look quite bulky on shelves. This could make Pop well suited also for those who want to maximize their home’s space.
This goes to show that smart home controller makers are stepping up in making their releases all-around, simple and space-saving. Other startups have even released units that allow the user to control various smart home devices by tapping on any part of the wall, not necessarily on the device. There are also light-switch types that combine light and appliance controls, and security and fitness tracking functions.
