Smart shoes that change colors and patterns to match various outfits may soon hit the market, thanks to the recent creation of Lithuania-based startup iShüu Technologies. The footwear is currently seeking funding on international crowdfunding website Indiegogo.
Dubbed as the Volvorii Timeless, the model is a pair of peep-toe pumps that integrates a flexible e-ink display in the uppers, allowing users customize patterns via click of a smartphone. This is made possible by a Bluetooth low-energy receiver embedded at the shoes' soles. Wearers can choose from an array of designs from polka dots to animal stripes to flowers.
The footwear is available in black and white, and made of a mixture of leather and rubber. It is powered by a 200mAh battery, which can be charged wirelessly. The Volvorri Timeless shoes take two hours to charge fully and can last between two and six months, depending on how often these are used.
Apart from digital customization, the footwear has fasteners on top of the toe and back of the heel where wearers can attach different accessories. Heel height options are 3.5 and 4.5in. Europe sizes 36 to 41 are offered.
Interested parties can now preorder the Volvorri Timeless shoes at Indiegogo for $249 a pair. iShüu hopes to ship the shoes to all backers by the end of December 2015.
