Manufacturers of AC power cords in China continue to highlight their capability to turn out products with high reliability and stability. They offer 100 to 250V-rated units, with 220 to 230VAC types accounting for more than half of their output. Household appliances, PCs, servers and electric tools are the main applications.
The typical selection has two- or three-pin male or female plugs with contacts made from copper, PVC shells and 0.75 to 1mm wires with PVC jackets. There are also water-resistant variants that are available in up to IP67-rated configurations.
These AC power cords comply with UL, cUL, CE, VDE, CCC, BS, CSA, SAA, PSE and RoHS standards. They are usually made using materials sourced from the domestic market, the costs of which are expected to remain stable and keep prices unchanged in 2025.
Chinese suppliers accept orders based on custom specifications on plugs and cables used to reach a wider market. These products represent between 20 and 60 percent of their total output.
China is the largest production base for this category, generating 43 percent of the global supply.
Worldwide, the market for power cords will remain in an upturn, with total sales value projected to reach $8.71 billion by 2030 or register 4.3 percent CAGR from 2024, according to QYResearch. In 2023, it was valued at $6.58 billion.
