Thirty years ago in the second installment of the "Back to the Future" trilogy, Marty McFly, played by Michael J. Fox, travels into the future to October 21, 2015 where he discovered hoverboards, flying cards and self-lacing sneakers.

Sports apparel and footwear giant Nike turns the last to reality as it sends the first pair of "power-laced" shoes to the American actor.

Known as the Nike MAG, the shoes feature "a responsive system that senses the wearer's motion to provide on-demand comfort and support," according to the brand's website. Nike also admits that the technology is still in its infancy and the company is currently testing it across various sports to improve the design.

The first Nike MAGs were actually launched and auctioned in 2011 with the proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which conducts research on Parkinson's disease. But these did not have the self-lacing technology.

The power-laced Nike MAGs is set to be released in spring 2016 and will also help the foundation.
