This case is for iPhone users who can't quit Android

For people who love the iPhone but are envious of certain Android features, there is now a case to meet those needs. Many appear skeptical about the utility of attaching what is effectively an Android phone to the back of an iPhone, but thanks to the power of crowdsourcing, this is a product that will exist. Called the Eye, the device has a Kickstarter campaign that has already tripled its initial funding goal of $95,000.

While the Eye might not be the sort of thing the average iPhone user would need in day-to-day life, it does offer some very real advantages for heavy smartphone users. It comes with all the essential parts of a smartphone, including a 2,800mAh battery. This means the Eye can act as a power bank case in addition to the other features it has.

There are other advantages of having an Android phone that can interface with an iPhone. With it attached to the back, the rear camera can be used as a selfie camera using the Eye screen. It also gives the phone additional storage. The Eye has 16GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot that can take cards up to 265GB. It can transfer files to and from the iPhone at speeds up to 130Mbps.

The Eye also comes with two SIM card slots, turning the iPhone into a triple-SIM phone. That might be overkill.

Like other mid-tier Android phones, the device has a 5in AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920x1080p. It is powered by the MediaTek Helio P20 and has 3GB of RAM. It even includes NFC and an IR blaster.

Since the case has all the features of a smartphone, it has a price to match. The retail price is expected to start at $189, but it's available for $95 on Kickstarter. The case with cellular connectivity starts at $129 on Kickstarter.
