China's typical selection of through-hole diodes come in glass- or plastic-covered units.

Through-hole diodes from China makers use silicon substrate, replacing germanium varieties. These come in glass- or plastic-encapsulated models.

By application, there are rectifier, switching, Schottky, TVS, Zener, fast-recovery and varactor types. The first four make up the mainstream supply.

Rectifier kinds account for about 70 percent of Rugao Dachang Electronics Co. Ltd's production, 50 percent for Jinan Gude Electronic Device Co. Ltd and 40 percent for Changzhou Guangda Electronics Co. Ltd. The third also offers Schottky and switching kinds. As for Shenzhen Luguang Electronic Technology Co. Ltd, 40 percent of yield consists of rectifier, Schottky and TVS units.

The common packages used include DO-41, DO-35, DO-27, DO-15, R-1, R-6 and DO-201AD. The first three form the bulk of turnout. Changzhou Guangda and Jinan Gude adopt mainly DO-41. The latter's monthly production capacity for the last is 246 million units. Jinan Gude can also churn out 56 million units in DO-15 and 43 million in DO-201AD.

Companies source wafers or chips locally, or from Taiwan, Japan and South Korea providers. Shenzhen Luguang turns to the second, while Jinan Gude has the capability to produce the key component in-house. The rest of the materials come from the domestic supply.

Prices have reached bottom level due to intense competition. In coming months, these are forecast to drop further, although within 2 percent only.

Here is a selection of through-hole diodes from China:
