January 2014 saw GlobalSources.com buyer inquiries for shift dresses jumping nearly fourfold from the previous month and close to 300 percent YoY. Further, the number of requests for information received was impressive enough to land the category in seventh place in the latest garments and fashion accessories top 20.

This is the first time that shift dresses appeared on the list. Recent releases from China adopt various materials, including polyester and knitted modal, and feature flattering silhouettes.

Also entering the top 20 for the first time in January is triangle bikinis with 258 percent more RFIs on-month.

Daypacks is the third category to make it to the list of most popular garments and fashion accessories in January on the back of three-digit RFI growth. From December 2013, inquiries for the line climbed 227 percent, and 295 percent YoY.
