A unique speaker made in Japan is catching eyes upon its arrival in the US thanks to its semiopaque look and ability to display song lyrics in many ways.
From Cotodama, the Lyric Speaker is a 40Hz to 40kHz music player that streams from various online media platforms, including YouTube, Spotify, Google Play, Apple Music, Deezer and SoundCloud. It fetches lyrics from Japan lyrics database PetitLyrics and shows them on its translucent front TFT LCD. The font style, size and movement depend on the song’s mood. The speaker works just like music visualizers on a mobile phone but this one can be an entertaining centerpiece in a room.
As regards connectivity, the translucent speaker supports Wi-Fi and can sync with mobile phones via the Lyric Speaker app.
While many seem to be attracted to this stylish and innovative speaker, price is holding some potential buyers back. The Cotodama Lyric Speaker lists at $4,500. No wonder price is quite high for it is said that each smart speaker is handmade and only about 15 units are made by Cotodama monthly in Japan.
