Smart doorbells, poised for high growth through the next four years, remains a dynamic product line that keeps on innovating. The latest video doorbells turn more intelligent with multiple functions, including unlocking and intercom, and connect to security alarms, sensors and monitors. A new smart doorbell demonstrates that interoperability can be taken a step higher by adding smart lights and garage door openers to its compatible products.
The product is the Xchime, an app-controlled doorbell that allows users to talk to their visitors via a mobile device or PC. It also communicates wirelessly by Wi-Fi or Bluetooth LE. A version comes with a kit that lets it work with garage door systems on one tap. Buyers can get an add-on smart light that the doorbell can activate to scare off intruders when motion is detected. Sensing range is 3 to 6m.
The 4.375x1.9x1in smart doorbell can record in the cloud, real time and at night. The videos it takes are in 1080p HD.
The innovative product is already funded almost 200 percent its goal and with a number of days still left in its Indiegogo campaign. Early backers are getting it for $129 which is shown to be less expensive than that of popular brands in the market. Versions with the garage door and/or smart light kits are between $140 and $160. The doorbell ships in August.
